About

Dan Emert, Andy Cary, Emily Muller-Cary, Alan Feves, and Steve Muller

Whisky for Breakfast

At the core of Whisky for Breakfast is duo Andy and Emily. Their trademark harmonies and instrumental work create the foundation of the band. Emily Muller-Cary sings a variety of folk styles and plays fiddle, guitar, and sometimes even the bass. Andy Cary adds rhythm guitar, harmonies, and strong vocal leads as well.  Longtime bass player (and occasional dobro player) Alan Feves rounds out the rhythm. National fiddle champion and Walla Walla resident Dan Emert helps to create the trademark twin fiddle sound.  Steve Muller rounds out the bluegrass character with Scruggs-style banjo.

Whisky Before Breakfast on St. Patrick’s day

Our Name

There‘s a well-known fiddle tune known as ‘Whiskey Before Breakfast’. Somehow, at a gig early on in this band’s lifetime, that title was misprinted. Though the promoter of the event was mortified, we thought it sounded perfectly appropriate - so we kept it! We sometimes have been known to be ‘Lucky Charms’ around St. Patrick‘s day, too…

Our Other Bands

As active musicians, we all have a lot of irons in the fire, and most of us play a wide variety of styles and instruments. If this isn’t the right fit for your event, members of our band are also the Equinox Jazz Quartet, Blue Mountain String Quartet, Brassfire Band, and Musik für Bier (yes, really, we do have a German oompah band.) Andy and Emily love to play duo shows together, and Emily also has a great solo jazz piano show, so please feel free to reach out to us for any of these other contacts as well.
